If you have found this page your either interested or just plain curious about the sale of this website. All the details relating to the site are listed below, I have tried to answer as many of the questions you may have. Please read through all of this carefully, there are sales threads listed on dnforum.com, namepros.com, digitalpoint.com and sitepoint.com and I wont be replying to threads that request information already explained below.
The sale is exactly that, a sale which will end either at the specified BIN price or at a lower price if I so agree, at any point I retain the right to close the sale without a purchaser. I am not interested in deals, suggestions for the site or anyones views on it.
Sorry to sound so harsh but experience tells me if I dont specify the above I will just get trashy sales threads.
If you have a genuine interest and questions that need answered then add me to MSN, lee_wisener@hotmail.co.uk or email me on lee@wisener.net

Background
The site was estabished in February 2004 as wwiiforum.com, a few months later it changed to ww2talk.com, the site has grown susbstanially from then to the site you see now. World War 2 is a subject that will never tire, the posts made 2 years ago are still very relevant today and its not uncommon for very old threads to keep coming back due to a renewed debate. This is key to the forum success, as you know may forum posts become irrelevant after days never mind years. So you know that in fact you have a great resource that will always be of interest to enthusiasts.
The site has huge potential for its type, as I noted above, its really down to what you want to make of it or think you can. On that basis my price is still firm and low ball offers based on your views about revenue and so on are not of interest to me.
Management
There are a number of moderators on the forum, all are long serving and will not leave, two of the moderators are WWII Veterans. The site itself has very little you need to do it other than post if its your subject and generally keep an eye on things.
The mods are aware of the sale, they support it as long as they get a good admin, its a big site with importance in relation to ww2, they are very passionate about the site and subject, treat the site and them well and you will get nothign but support from them.
Revenue
There are/were 3 income streams:
| Member Donations - |
These work out on average at about £30/$60 per month, all you need to do is ask them. |
| Banner Ads - |
I only currently advertise my own hosting site, in the past month its earned me 13 new customers at £150/$300 per month |
| Adsense - |
We did have adsense from Sept-Dec 2005, unfortunately I was removed due to the way ads were displayed, not deliberate just my ignorance of the way it worked. You can therefore place you own adsense if you wish, earnings for just short of 3 months from Sept - Nov were $192.68, so averaging just over $60 per month. As my adsense account was closed I cant provide proof of this, however look at the traffic statistics they will go some to verify this was perfectley reasonable.
The only program that targets ads properly is google, bidvertiser and others just dont have the right kind of ww2 ads for the site, I tried bidvertiser and the members did not like it as ads were completely irrelevant. |
I am sure there are other ways of revenue generation, thats up to you.

Previous Sale
I sold this site in June last year, the person that bought it did not manage it well and let all sorts of spam in, the forum, traffic dropped and it was going nowhere, I stepped in and bought it back around October 2006, hence the dip in traffic for a while last year, the stats are better now than they ever were.
Reason for sale
As stated above, I sold it before and I am just doing so again but this time hopefully to someone that knows a bit more about managing forums. I own wise1host.co.uk and it doing really well, I also buy and sell low end sites which I make money from and want to focus on that, the money from this sale will give me a boost. Nothing more to it than that. In fact I have been selling a few of my sites off recently as some of you will have seen an maybe even bought on the various sites I visit.
Payment
Paypal is all I am willing to accept, I wont use Escrow, I dont trust it for this type of sale. If you in the UK I can accept Nochex
