Mengele now, is the sort of fellow that makes your skin crawl. He is one of the few people that I really want to go to hell. By contrast, Eichmann is so, to use an old word, banal, that I don't want him to go to hell-exactly. I don't want any thing of him. I just want the old monster to go away and deprive you of the burden of thinking about him.
However Hitler, I always found a remarkably uninteresting person. And perhaps that is best. He wanted power over peoples' minds as well as their bodies and it is as well not to give him that power. |
