| HMS JANUS (January 23, 1944)
After taking part in the Anzio landings, the destroyer Janus (Lt. Cdr. W. Morrison) was hit by an arial torpedo from a German bomber and sank off Nettuno with the loss of seven officers and 155 ratings. HMS Jervis rescued five officers and seventy-seven ratings.
