They never saw service in Italy.
They didn't become operational until Feb 44 when they were sent on anti-partisan duties in Yugoslavia, but in late 44 due to the advance of the Red Army, they were moved to Southern Hungary to fight against the Soviets

While they did take part in some war crimes these numbers seem excessive, do you have a source ?
