The Times of 1 Jan 1944 gives his date of death as 29 Dec 1943 - as he was retired through ill health 15th Dec 1943 I think highly likely that his death was directly linked to his military service - this would entitle him to a CWGC commemoration - anyone know if he is buried at Binfield?
