Hello Spidge...yes Alex was amazing what's even more incredible is that his flying career was just 16 amazing years!!!!! I miss him dreadfully as does everyone who ever knew him. Most people will tell you he was the greatest aviator these Islands ever produced. He regularly rolled Lanc's it was his party piece the bugger!! He was also the only man who could handle that most tricky of aerobatic manouveres the Bunt ( reverse loop effectively) it was his usual finale to a display at CB. You ought to take the trip to see the replica Mew Gull in The Milestones of Flight hall at Hendon or better stiil contact Taff Smith at Breighton and see the real thing.
deadb_tch....Babbyboomer....a bit of Brum speak, a Babby is to us a baby...the boomer bit? Well, when all of those soldiers who survived, came back home from the war, they played Mummys and Daddys.......A LOT!!!!!. hence my generation are known as Baby boomers. They're not all as ugly as me though thank God!
