Roxy - you were led correctly as the 2nd batt. Camerons served in 11th bde of the 4th Indian Div. which had a noble history in the Desert - then Ethiopis - back to Tunisia - the two balltes at Cassino - on to the Trasemino Line after Rome - then over to the Gothic Line and finally Greece.
The Camerons served as the British element of 11th bde along with the 3rd Batt 7th Punjabi's and the 2nd Batt. 7th Gurkhas particularly in Italy - so his records should show where he was taken prisoner - but my money would be around Cassino as they had lost their most famous Major General - Tuker to sickness and the division was led by a Brigadier Dimoline for those two battles in which they were cut up very badly.
