U 643 surfaces and surrenders to Liberator FK223 T/120 squadron on 8 October 1943. The U-boat had been attacked by Liberator Z/86 (F/O. C W. Burcher) and T/120 (F/O. D. Webber) U 643 was then scuttled by its crew.
