I asked Michael if he knew anything else about the history of the canons and this reply came today.

the facts are.
these guns were up on mount Carmel 156 meters above sea level.

one was right near the DAN CARMEL HOTEL, as a child I swa the foundation and bolts of the old gun.

I do not know were the second gun was set up.

The gun caused trrouble to the approaching British and Indian forces in Sep 1918. 18 were killed. they are buiried in the WW1 graveyard in Haifa.

the picture you sent me is from the gun near the hotel. the small trees are there to this day.

there is great interest out here, as we know that British officers , and Australian officers took photoes to remember from this sit up on the mountain near the big gun.

it was a Naval gun, made in Germany, and the turkes pulled it up the mountail. must have been hell to do that..

I shall receive 3 more air photoes in 2 weeks. these pic were taken by Germen 3 winnged planes above Haifa in 1915- during the war time. the big gun should show on them.
