Hello Ron.
I suppose i have got to start somewhere,so i am going to start with a relation, who served with the RAF,and has a celebrity connection,to his service during WW2.
That is if you are over 35.
My dads,Uncle,Oscar"Bob"Furnell, served with the RAF,during the war.
Although i haven't done much research on him,he was 25 years old,at the start of the war,and was in the RAF,by 1941 at the latest.
From what my Dad has told me,he used to instruct men on how to use Radar, the training being done in Canada.
Whether it was Bomber crews,or not,i don't know, but the celebrity connection was Derek Guyler, later of Please Sir and Sykes,in the 60's and 70's.
They served together,i believe,in Canada.
Living in an area, that has loads of old Airfields close by,the RAF,and The Paras, have always been of interest.
All the best.
Simon Furnell.
