The MP 40 was produced by ERMA, it had 6 riflings with a muzzle velocity of 381m/s, the same as its predecessor, the MP 38. It's rate of fire was 500 rpm and had an effective range of 70m, also like the MP 38. Also like the MP 38 was the ammunition, firing 9x19mm Parabellum rounds. The major difference between the two weapons is the unloaded weight. The MP 38 was 4.11 kg while the MP 40 was 3.9 kg.
