Hi Marcus
It seems as though I owe you an apology !
You said

'Now don't I feel daft', he says as he hurries off to hide in the corner...like a mouse.
P.S. That's a big Lamp post that like!
These posts are so damn high that I'd never been able to see what was at the top of them or find out any more detailed info, so I've "borrowed" an image from the internet (I'm sure the original owner will allow us the privilege) to show you how impressive they are.
In the meantime I shall carry on referring to them as lamp-posts until someone else can put me right

Cheers

Ron

Some great colour photos of Venice on IWM site.

Driver C W (Bill) Hoe of Mansfield, Notts, and Driver F G (Freddie) Talbot of Brentford, Middlesex, both of whom have been overseas for over 2 years, in the Piazza San Marco. In the background is the famous clock which tells the time, season, month and day of the year.

Many thanks for drawing my attention to all those brilliant snaps.
I wonder who took them in such cracking colour ?

"You were given the choice between war and dishonor.
You chose dishonor and you will have war."

(Winston Churchill made this prophetic pronouncement in a House of Commons speech in 1938, just after Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain signed the Munich agreement with Hitler. Chamberlain returned from Germany with the signed agreement in hand, proclaiming that "peace in our time" had been achieved. Churchill attacked Chamberlain's "politics of appeasement" in this and many other speeches.)
