Are there going to be any other 60th anniversary celebrations for other theatre's of war, like Kohima, Imphal or Anzio, Monte Cassion, with all the focus on the 60th anniversary of d-day, it would be very sad that other vets from those theatre's were forgotten, not to mention the fallen as well

Who remember's the fallen of the Burma campaign at all?

I am going out to Italy around the time of the 60th anniversary of Cassino; we are hoping to come across some of the ceremonies when we are there, but there is pitifully little info on them on the Net.

Mark Hone is on a distinguished road
A couple of Burma veterans went out to Kohima the other week and were photographed in the paper. Unfortunately getting many 80+ veterans out to the interior of Burma/Myanmar or the Assam region of India is not a practical proposition on health or safety grounds. I looked into the possibility of taking my dad out ten years ago, when he was in much better health, and it was a daunting prospect.

Mark,

I appreciate that this is one year on from your post but if you want any help or advice I would be willing to help.

I live in Yangon (Rangoon), probably one of about 50 Brits that do, I've lived here for several years and would gladly offer any help or advice for any of this websites members who would be considering a trip.

Bruce
