You asked about the Polish grave with an American flag... that's the grave of 22 year old Richard Tice - an American with no Polish blood in him! He joined the Poles because he'd learned at school that the Poles had helped the Americans win their freedom in the War of Independance, so he wished to help in their present struggle as some form of repayment. He was killed at Driel when some Germans approached his patrol shouting "Don't shoot" in English. Tice and co thought they were Americans and broke cover into a hail of MG and rifle fire...game over!
