structure of 179th infantry (45th division)?

Would anyone have info or know where to find info regarding the company structure, etc., of the 179th brigade of the 45th division? I have seen the previous post about the structure of the 45th, but unable to find anything with detail about the 179th. Any info appreciated.

thanks,

jjfish

Are you asking about the 179th Infantry Regiment of the US 45th Infantry Division? If you are wanting the TO&E (Table of Organization and Equipment), any regimental TO&E from that era will suffice, depending on the year.

Go to this site on the 100th Infantry Division and follow the links on the diagram to see what constituted an American Infantry Regiment in 1944. The 100th was organized the same as the 179th.

45th division 179th infantry roster?

Yes, thanks, that's it. Any Idea how I might get a list of names for the 179th? I'm researching two of my uncles who served in that unit. By the way, would "unit" refer to the regiment? I know they were both in the same unit, and I know one was in the 179th infantry, 45th division, but don't know what "unit" refers to regarding the structure.

Thanks,

jjfish

Unit could be anything from squad on up to division, depending on what you are talking about. Unit is a a generic description for varying groups of men.

I would guess the best place to start is to contact the 45th Division Association, they might can point you to who could help.
