Thanks for this info Jim, will certainly look into that, I recently bought a book about a PEI regiment soldier on ebay.

I would like to get WDs of these units, but it is difficult, to sort them out on their webpage.

Phillip ARBG:

I have found a series of pages that list the Order of Battle for the various Canadian Army Divisons and Brigades in WW2. I thought that it would be helpfull for you to have.

Here goes :

Canadian Heroes

Canadian 3rd Division: Order of Battle WWII

Juno Beach Centre - Liberation of the Netherlands and capitulation of Germany

Juno Beach Centre - The Canadians in Order of Battle

Canada at War - Video: Canadian Army Newsreel: The Scheldt

The last one is actual WW2 film shot by the Canadian Army's combat film unit, in the fall winter of 1944/45. The website has a number of other films on it as well of other WW2 Canadian battles.

I hope this is helpfull to you.

Here is the modern day website for the 48th Highlanders of Canada. At this time about 35 members of the 48th are serving with the CF in Afghanistan. Since 2004 over 200 Highlanders have been to "the sandbox ".

The Official Web Of the 48th highlanders

Sapper :

Thanks for the " tip of the hat ". It is nice to be recognised by one who has " been there ".

My ancestors on my Dad's side of the family, came to Canada in 1801, from County Cork, and we Buntings have served this country in various wars, in every generation since then.

Good to see you on here Canada, may I ask where you managed to serve? Did you manage to get to Germany? Fond memories of 2 Canadian guys I met out there. You had a detatchment at HQ BAOR, military police on personal protection duties at Rheindhalen, I seem to remember they spent most of their time in bars, dragging me along with them as I could say Zwei Grossen Pills bitte, and they couldnt, mind you I then had to say und eine grossen pills bitte cos I didnt know any more.
