![]() ![]() | PS He could also be a Major (probably Artillery) but it's hard to be sure with the collar tabs being missing from the tunic and the photo being B&W. It depends whether the piping on the cap is silver, gold, or white. |

![]() ![]() ![]() | Looked at my book, German Army Uniforms and Insignia 1933-1945, by Davis. As stated above, it is New Style Summer Tunic, authorized to be worn 1 Apr to 30 Sep, as a Walking Out uniform, oridinary Dress Uniform at the Officer's Mess and clubs, social functions or at sporting events as a spectator. It could be worn by all officers, including Field Marshal and Beamten with an officer rank. Rank was indicated by shoulder boards only, there were no collar patches worn. A white emblem was worn on the right breast, it was gilt for generals and above. There were no white trousers worn with this coat. Last edited by Slipdigit; 27-02-2008 at 09:08 PM. |

![]() | I would concur with Jeff and Phywar, The shoulder boards would appear to be that of a General Major and he has also been awarded the Deutsch Kreuz, which ranks only below that of a Ritter Kreuz. I also agree that the Cannon photo is that of a 24 cm Theodor Bruno Kanone (Eisenbahn) Tom |
