Sapper - I too wonder about the present day world and wonder why did we bother - then I also think of the lads and they did it so that the world could become better - God knows - we have had enough warnings to be better - but we still know better than Him.
Ron is an early bedder - early riser so we should hear from him at around 05:30 GMT- before he goes walkies - then I shall be in bed !
Cheers

Tom has nearly got it right

I usually turn in at midnight then am up no later than 5:30 am, when I take my first look at the computer.
Did I see you wondering what I make of the modern world, compared with the one we lived in in wartime ?
A simple way of assessing it would be to use plus & minus prefixes, + meaning I approve and - standing for this p****s me off.
Please accept that the list is in no particular order but is just as my thoughts develop.

- Revisionism
- Vandalism, particularly in cemeteries
- Knife crime
- International terrorism
- Unwarrented bias in Press reports
- People swearing in the street and on public transport, particularly the youngsters.
- The cult of celebrity making which gives no value to whether a person is good or bad but rather how many times his or her name has appeared in the press
- Footballers who celebrate scoring a goal by covering their face with their shirts and running amok on the field
+ The internet
+ Satnav
+ My Ipod Touch (currently holding 9500 of my photos !)

That's enough for now, perhaps others might like to develop this theme ?

Cheers

Ron

Ron,

That is not a bad list.
I could not agree more with your comments.

Lack of respect by the majority of the younger generation to their elders tops my list.
Perhaps bringing back a little disciple in school would help in this respect plus compulsory teaching of Ethics in school.

Regards

Tom

The total lack of respect tops my list - by adults -

this is where the youngsters learn their lessons - particularly on the playing fields of "sport" - look at the recent Ryder Cup - the US captain tells a crowd that "sportsmanship" is all - ten minutes later he is telling them to "BOO" every missed putt by the Europeans !

Or when Chelsea is penalised for an infraction - the whole team led by Terry and Lampard - surrounds the referee to change his mind !

Or the captain of Middlebrough trying to break a newcomers leg.....or the diving in the penalty box - the shirt pulling - this is Sportsmanship ? - hasn't been for yesrs now it's merely entertainment... and not very good mostly...but it does hide a need !
Cheers
