Do stop bickering about our war leaders. Of course they made mistakes - everybody does - and the nature of war is that the butcher's bill for such mistakes is high. But they didn't have the hindsight we have in such detail today, and whatever their faults, they didn't sell us out to the enemy when things looked bleak, and they brought us through. The 'if only' game can be played by anyone. Leave them in peace - they earned it.

Actually I was not being sarcastic. I genuinely thought your post was a good one and I agree with its sentiment. Even if I get sucked into these arguments on occasion.
