Two Types by Jon... An original booklet

Today I am a happy man

This story starts with me getting an e-mail from someone I'd never heard of, asking me for details about "Jon" & the Two Types"
This chap had seen some of the cartoons in my Army Album and wanted to know more about the artist himself.

I obliged by giving him some background and various links and then, my own interest aroused, I looked on the internet to see if I could pick up a reasonable copy of the original booklet that was published in 1945.
"Reedmore Books" came up trumps and for a modest £7.00, inc postage, I've got an original copy, printed on tatty old paper and originally bought for someone back home on April 5th 1945. The original price was 20 lire !
It's got loads of cartoons in it and in the fullness of time I will probably post some on this thread.
Now excuse me while I get back to my lovely piece of nostalgia

ps
Just went back to my Diaries to see what I was doing on the date in question:

April 5th - A & B Sqns moved to GODO area.
April 7th - Nothing to report.
Sunday 8th. April 1945
Colonel gave A & B squadrons griff talk for this 'final' campaign. Packed tank sheet and covered my bed with Honey canopy.

Finally, for anyone who has never heard of the Two Types before, start off with this link:

Owen posted this lovely shot from IWM collections when Gerry mentioned the Two Types a while back.
I keep putting them on my ebay watch list (they crop up quite often there, must have been a very popular thing) and then forgetting to bid...

Hi Owen,

Seems it has disappeared into cyberspace. Anyway, I have it, and much more, in file from both booklets.

For starters here's one from "Two Types in Italy"

Gerry

PS for Paul. PM your mail address. As my 20x8 storage locker has been delivered I will be able to fulfill my promise to give you the booklet of which I have two.
