![]() | Has anybody read?
In conjunction with the thread on what we are reading, I'd like to start a thread on books we'd like to read, and whether other's have read it (their opinions, if it's worth reading etc). To make things easier, put the book title your querying in the Title.

![]() | Mailer's "The Castle in the Forest" Just borrowed this one from the library, and haven't yet started it. It's Norman Mailer's latest novel, based upon historical fact. It traces Adolph Hitler's life from birth through adolescence. The narrator of The Castle in the Forest is a being named Dieter, aka D.T., who appears to be an SS officer but is, in fact, a demon assigned by the "Maestro" to watch over a provincial Austrian household in the 1890s. The head of this household is a man named Alois Hitler. Mailer served in an infantry regiment in the Philippines, from whence came his famous war novel The Naked and the Dead. JT |

Anybody read Mein Kampf by Hitler? Not sure if I've spelt that correctly. I've read somebody discussing it on another thread but can't find it. Just wondering if worth reading? Any reviews would be appreciated. Marcus |

I agree with VP - tedious, repetative and actually not a good guide for Hitler's actions (even though some writers do keep going back to it and trying to use it as evidence for his motives and actions). However, if you must read it, it's available for free all over the web, e.g. Mein Kampf by Adolf Hitler
