There is a diary I've been reading that was written by Karl Von Schenk the commander of U-122. It appears he was in his early or late twenties during World War 1. He comes from a high social nobility family and throughout his diary he continually talks about how talented and great he is. He also doesn't want to socialize with others on an earlier U-boat he served on as an officer and doesn't think they are smart. He criticizes nearly everyone in his diary. The only person he doesn't criticize is the girl of his dream, Zoe. I was wondering if you guys knew anymore about Karl Von Schenk. If there is a photo of him I'd like to see it or any other additional information. Here's a link to the book I am reading on the web: Barnes&Noble.com - Books: U122, by Karl von Schenk, Paperback By the way, you guys read this book before?

Kriegsmarine. Does Schenk say when he was commander of U 122? I cannot find anything indicating he commanded either U 122 in WW1 or WW2.

Karl Von Schenk sadly doesn't put any dates in his diary but I know for sure it was during World War 1. I'm guessing he was the commander of U-122 in the later parts of WW1.

It appears it may well be another 'Forgotten Soldier'; a novel written with an essential grain of truth rather than a real memoir: uboat.net - Discussion Forums :: WWI forum :: Re: Karl von Schenk Cheers. Adam.
