If any Americans reading would like a translation of 'raving iron' or 'iron hoof', then please PM me in the usual way.

Have to agree about DA. It is out there in a league of its own as far as I am concerned. My father was in HG before enlisting with the Micks. He recognised a few characters.

I never warmed to It ain't half hot Mum though. As for 'Allo 'Allo, it lost me when the 'fallen Madonna' and the 'Listen carefully ...' started to grate on my nerves.

Yes, there always was a resident one, wasn't there? Lieut. Grueber and his little Tank did make me laugh though.

Klopp!

I don't think LTN will ever be broadcast again in the UK, Alf Garnet still occasionally gets shown, although it's usually a single episode or the film.

cheers,

This was on the Beeb yesterday. Great stuff. 'Never too old' - the episode where Jones gets married. They all turned up at the wedding in WW1 uniform, most wearing 'Trios' except Captain Mainwaring, who was miffed to see Sgt. Wilson in his Captains uniform and Jones had a yard of gongs. Pte. Godfrey had another medal, higher precedence that the trio - did anyone recognise it (I'm not a medal/ribbon expert) He served in WW1, as did Frazer, both were discharged wounded.( Arnold Ridley, John Laurie,)
Been getting Dad's Army flashbacks since I read this thread. Maybe should get some DVDs.

Godfrey won the MM in WW1, there was a episode about that.
Wish I'd seen that episode you just mentioned Geoff.
Is it on You Tube?

That was a fantastic episode, Godfrey being accused of being a 'concsci' by Mainwaring and then they find out he had an MM for being a stretcher bearer. Makes me just thinking about it

We have an iconoclast in our midst.
The first no vote for Dad's Army...

Step forward UKsubs & explain yourself!

Any other brave nay-sayers out there?
There's no shame in bucking the trend... even if you're wrong .

Dads Army - a group of stereotypes with one real gag each. it should not work but it is one of the best TV series ever. Seen so many episodes over and over and they still make me laugh. Put that light out!
