![]() | Channel 4 are asking for votes for the 100 Gretest War Films. Go to their website and go to the films pages. You get to pick your favourite 10 films. You can pick from their list or e-mail them with your own choices. I found my favourite 10 in their list anyway so there is quite a varied choice. The programme will be on next year. Cheers Adam

![]() | Have made my vote, slightly disappointed that the page wasn't working properly and that although The Great Escape appeared in the nominations it did not appear on the voting page, so i've had to e-mail them with mine. |

It was a revelation, therefore, to read in Between Silk and Cyanide by Leo Marks, who worked in SOE's code section, that it was just a piece of doggerel he had made up.

![]() | I just voted and I was pleased to see that the list included films like Went the DayWell?, surely the inspiration for The Eagle Has Landed, and Ken Loach's outstanding film about the Spanish Civil War, Land and Freedom. I used to live in the same town as Ken Loach and got to know him slightly. Not at all your typical steroetypical media egotist. If you want to vote, here is an easy link: http://www.channel4.com/film/newsfeatures/...ilms/index.html They say they are going to show the top 100 in 2005 and they provide 120 titles on the list. Well even if my favourites don't make it there are at least 100 of the 120 I would be happy to watch. 2005 could be an expensive year for buying video tapes, or perhaps I will have moved on to DVD by then.

![]() | 'Went the day well' got my vote. 'The Eagle has Landed' is a complete rip-off but I think I may have voted for that as well! Channel 4 are pretty good at showing black and white war films on week-day afternoons (not that I've seen many off them since I'm at work) but I'm sure films like 'The Way Ahead' and 'The Bedford Incident' have been on recently. Cheers Adam
