My favourites are Longest Day, BoB, Angels One Five, Kelly's Heroes, Sink The Bismarck and Dambusters, but I also wanted to mention a film called Theirs Is The Glory. It was made in 1945 and is about Market Garden, but didn't use actors. The men who played the parts were survivors of 1st Airborne playing themselves in the ruins of Arnhem itself, and is the more affecting for that. I gather it was made in mid-1945, just after the town had finally been liberated. I met one of the veterans in the film on a visit to Arnhem last year and bought the DVD at his suggestion, and was glad I did.

BTW, don't ever recall having seen a film about 14th Army in Burma, and would have thought Kohima would have made a great subject for a film - anyone know if one was made (either generally set during the campaign, or specifically about the battle), and prepared to make a recommendation?

Thanks,

Hated: Pearl Harbor, The Big Red One

There was another movie I liked but not sure of the name...it had the guy that played in one of those asteroid crashing into the earth movies and Ghost Ship. It was about the Siegfried Line I believe.

A Bridge Too Far is the greatest WW2 movie ever.

Pearl Harbor is the worst, or U571.
