I've just started 'The Case for Israel' by Alan Dershowitz can't say much I'm only on page 9.
There are two books waiting in the wings both by Mark Zuehlke: 'The Liri Valley' and 'The Gothic Line' I'm waiting for the warm weather so I can sit in the garden and dream of Italy. Should get out more!
I've been dipping in:'The Destruction of the Axis Forces in Africa' Volume IV of the History of the Second World War by Major-General Playfair.

quote "warm weather so I can sit in the garden and dream of Italy."
Wouldn't siting in an ice cold rain filled slit trench give just a realistic picture of the Italian campaign?
To quote a D-Day Dodger I chatted to once "Sunny bloody Italy? Where?"

Be nice to hear what you think as it's quite a while since I read it.

Owen D

It didn't rain all the time in Italy or so I've been told and the times I've been there it was too hot especially in Sicily. My garden is just about right to enjoy a good book or two.
Have you see 'Whicker's War' DVD he seemed to have had a fine old time in the sun and wine drinking etc...! Still somebody has to take the photos.
Talking of DVDs have you also seen the one 'British Campaigns-Italy 1943-1945' a picture is worth a thousand words or so they say. There is one of the best films of the bombing of Monte Cassino I have seen.
