![]() | Re: What are the best books having to do with the Pacific Theater? First, welcome to the Forum. With so much literature available, choosing the best is really difficult - one person's choice may not be anothers. Anyway, my two "best" are: 'Titans of the Seas. The Development and Operations of Japanese and American Carrier Task Forces during World War II" Authors: James H.Belote & William M.Belote Publisher: Harper & Row, New York Copyright: 1975, 406 pp. "Blue Skies and Blood. The Battle of the Coral Sea" Author: Edwin P.Hoyt Publisher: Paul S. Erikson, Inc., New York Copyright: 1975, 206 pp. Both should be readily available in libraries. Cheers, Gerry |

![]() | I mean like books that are about the whole Pacific Theater. As in they talk about ships involved, aircraft involved, men involved, and the campaigns. Here's a book that i'm reading about: Victory at Sea by James F. Dunnigan and Albert A. Nofi : Booksamillion.com (0688149472, Paperback) I meant books like that one. Where you get a basic concept of each battle, and then you can decide which battle(s) you wanna gain further knowledge of. |

![]() | Re: What are the best books having to do with the Pacific Theater? Eagle Against the Sun: The American War with Japan by Ronald H. Spector is hands down the best account I've read. The book combines scholarship with eminent readability. The author draws on declassified intelligence files as well as British, Japanese, and American archival material. Mr. Spector, who has served as historian at the U.S. Army Center of Military History, served with the U.S. Marine Corps in Vietnam. JT |
