![]() | The Chota book is OK, but is rather short for such a distinguished career. This means that his time in Indian and Burma is only covered is a limited way. I'm sure the Navdler book is a re-issue (hence the price) but I need to check that. The third book looks ver tempting. Shall have a proper look later. Cheers Andy - my bank manager will love you!

![]() | I make no apologies, Kyt, I managed to restrain myself from buying The Armed Rovers today...several times. Couldn't justify the postage! Even added other books to justify it! On a brighter note, "Pursuit Through Darkened Skies" by Michael Allen DFC** (!!!!) arrived today. With postage, cost me A$17 (7ish quid) which, given it's thickness at 340 pages+ has me pretty chuffed! ![]()

![]() | Stop it Andy! You've just reminded me of another book on my wishlist that I've been meaning to get. I shall await your review before buying - probably just delaying the inevitable!

![]() | You started it! Well, you encouraged it! Speaking of which...saw your listing in the three fave planes, sorry Mr Bader, aircraft, and remembered reading the review for this and flying Buffaloes over PoW and Repulse... Amazon.com: LIFE'S TOO SHORT TO CRY: The Inspirational Memoir of an Ace Battle of Britain Fighter Pilot: Books: Tim Vigors

![]() | Absolutely brilliant book. Vigors had a very lucid and fluid writing style which meant that I read the book in one sitting. Sadly he passed away before he could proof-read and edit the book, so some of the dates and minor details are a bit off. And it stops at the point when he is evacuated to India, and so does not contain any info about his time as a trainer. Still a very good read, and very moving. And I was sent a free copy by a member as a thank you for some off-line help.

![]() | Just to add that it was in his book that I learnt more about Bert Wipiti DFM (RNZAF), a Maori, who flew in Singapore, Burma and was then killed over Europe. Though I'd noted his name in other books, Vigors gives a very moving portrayal of a man who fought bravely and flew very well, during Singapore, and then sought Vigors' help to be transferred to Europe because he could no longer deal with the racism encountered in India from the colonials (though not inthe air force itself).

![]() | Another for the wishlist for sure! Btw, forgot to mention, when Pursuit... turned up today, I didn't even know what book it was! I realised there was only one book in the package but couldn't place it. Even the dog didn't know as I restrained myself until I got home after picking the mail up. I think I have something and I think it's contagious...
