That board is being used again with number on it, maybe to help catologue the photos at HQ?
Just what I meant...
Every captured vehicle was numbered by some means. This trophy-team seems to use boards while taking photos.
Others used simple chalk numbers

Alex

Cheers again Alex, you are of course correct, should have double-checked rather than relying on memory.

I've never seen any reference to 'reconditioned' Valentines being sent, c.3.5k delivered (?) and If I remember rightly by the end of it's Canadian production virtually the entire output was sent straight to the soviets.

Yes, you are close to the truth. I can't remember amount of Canadian Valentines, though

Isn't this the same picture but on a better print? And doesn't it look like the vehicles are out of the workshop, as the wheels look like they're new or repainted?

It is indeed the same picture .

I thought the wheels might be something more to do with recognition, the ones on the Panther particularly stand out, could be another handy way to 'shout' to ones own AT gunners "I'M ON YOUR SIDE!" ? The Panther behind that one is painted in the same odd way so I can't see it as a work in progress, more an intentional distinctive feature.

Out of 3487(?) sent in total, that really underlines the huge Canadian contribution to the war, as mentioned in your Canadian thread Spidge.
People often seem to neglect the huge amounts of Materiel Canada pumped out.
