Lend-lease markings

Afternoon all,
I'm looking for guidance on the markings of lend-lease vehicles, and especially those from the UK. I have not found much in the few textbooks I have nor on the greater interweb. What interests me is:
  1. Were they all immediately repainted in the standard Russian green (BO2 or something like that)?
  2. If not, what colours would they have been delivered in and would the standard stencils (weight, lifting points etc) have been used or perhaps something in Russian.
There are now a fair few colour photos on the web but sublte shades of green and really detailed stuff like small stencils does not really come across very well.

I suppose having just posted this somebody will point out Zaloga's new book on the subject.....

Any suggestions gratefully received.

CS

This is a site I use a lot http://www.o5m6.de/ForeignArmour.html

I recognise some of the vehicles from photographs, but the site is very good for the small stencilled markings. From my experiance of viewing pictures, most of the lend lease stuff was not overpainted. It was just marked with Soviet numbers and sent to the front. Usually the British/Canadian/USA vehicle ID codes are still present.

Alex's RKKA site is very useful too

That would be the Cromwell models resin job then. The Tamiya one is a Mk VII I seem to remember.

Cromwell models? Gulp..I may have to sell the car, the cat and my neighbours children to afford that level of loveliness. I think the older Tamiya Mk.3 with the farmer and his hand-cart is still available in some corners of the world. Thought I saw one on ebay a little while ago.

No, I missed that one. The font on the stencilling on the side looks rather odd - as if someone had copied the general form of Cyrillic but in Latin script, very peculiar. H
