![]() | Hard to limit it to three but...a bit stereotypical but these three probably strike a chord with me most. Looks, capability/reputation and personal in that order for the three listed below but each "reason" could be applied to all three. Spitfire Beaufighter Lancaster Add to that Mossie, Hurri, Tiffie, Lib, '109, MiG-3, Il-2, B-17, PB4Y, Boston, Stringbag, Beaufort, Gladiator, Firefly, Halibag, P-40 etc etc etc!

![]() | Beaufighter (ha, no surprises there!) Brewster Buffalo (I shall continue to defend this noble aircraft to the end of my days) Hawker Hurricane (self explanatory to anyone who knows aircraft) and with honourable mentions to: Gloster Gladiator Ju88 nightfighter varients (I know, a strange choice but, like the Beaufighter, it found its niche and then did it'd job commendably - even though it was on the wrong side)

![]() ![]() ![]() | I am assuming WWII era only. P-51 D model only B-25J Gotta like a plane with that much forward firepower DH Mosquito So versatile and effective close runners-up P-47 Beauty and grace in big package that could bring them home F4U Corsair wicked looking and effective-could run like a scalded dog Short Sunderland Either this or the PBY IL-2 Strumovik Even a brick can fly. Me-323 Put this one in only to recognize the bravery of the pilots who dared to fly this..this...monstrosity. What was the German leadership thinking? |
