Cool If you could make a WW2 movie......

If you guys could make a movie about any certain WW2 event what would it be? I'd make a movie either on the sinking of the Wilhelm Gustloff or the SS City of Benares. I've heard rumors on the internet that there is a movie being made about the Wilhelm Gustloff but I don't know if its true or not. That'd be cool if it was.

I would make a movie about the Battle of Leyte Gulf. It would be a huge one and unfortunately, due this passage of time, heavily dependant on CGI to recreate the ships, but I do think they would look better in that format, than as models in a big tank a la "In Harms Way"

Think it could be brought in under, say, 14 hours long?

I would like to see one made on Island Farm. This would not be a reverse of "The Great Escape" as there would be so much scope for interest from many areas.

On second thought it might make a good series.

BRIDGEND GERMAN POW CAMP, ISLAND FARM CAMP 198 / SPECIAL CAMP XI

You chose dishonor and you will have war."

(Winston Churchill made this prophetic pronouncement in a House of Commons speech in 1938, just after Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain signed the Munich agreement with Hitler. Chamberlain returned from Germany with the signed agreement in hand, proclaiming that "peace in our time" had been achieved. Churchill attacked Chamberlain's "politics of appeasement" in this and many other speeches.)

A decent film about Burma (that actually portrays the British, Indian, African etc contribution) and/or ditto for Italy.

This wasn't a true depiction then?

Wouldn't mind one that followed the wartime career of HMAS Sydney right up to her loss while engaging the Kormoran. As long as the final battle didn't involve any rubbish about Japanese submarines and gave a credible explanation as to why all crew were lost...
