Found these old pix, can't ID uniforms

I bought acouple really old books that are marked between 1939-1945 era and found these old pictures in one of the books. I'm positive that they are from Europe during Wordl War 2, but in Ukraine.

The one photo has a picture of a German Soldier in it:

So the people in the photos are suppose to be from Ukraine but I'm not finding much information on Ukraine in WW2. So do these uniforms look famaliar to anyone, the style or any markings. Thought I could use it in a report this semester in my History Class perhaps if I find out more information on it.

But at the very least I can return them to the people as they may mean alot to them if there relatives are in them.
Thanks in advance!

In this pic, it looks like the guys are wearing uniforms from different armies.
Both are wearing US helmets. The one on the left looks like he is wearing something patterned on British battle dress, but it looks too dark. The one on the right looks like he has more of a US cut to his clothing, but is equally dark.

I have no idea about the weapons, other than they look to be rifles, which doesn't tell you much more than you already knew.

There are posters here that know much more about this than I do, maybe they can tell you more.

1st photo looks like two Italian Policemen in Rome after Mark Clark liberated it.....the uniforms are definately American..(the tie is a give away.....They look like the Italians that Gen. Clark's Army recruited to Police Rome....I'm guessing from the cut of the uniforms...the ties, and the fact that the street they are in loos very Italian......Just a guess, mind.....Sleeves rooled down, it could very well be Patton's Third Army, too (Third Army nwas notorious for handing out fines for uniform midemeanors.....Very famous "Willie and Joe" cartoon that shows them Radioing in to base for a 300 mile "detour" to avoid Patton's Army altogether....the sign they are reading lists the penalties for all sorts of trivial offences...but that was the Third Army for you.

Next one down, my guess is POLISH from the uniforms...or Rumanians...but the Poles would be my first guess...........they uniform rings a bell in that derpartment....I check for you...

Third photo of the allied group....definately RUSSIAN....the uniformed man standing to the left has a pair of Cavalry 'Johdpurs' on...( 'or sh*t catchers')....Germany was the only other Army to dress it's troops in this style, but the Soviets still showed a liking for 'johdpurs with ordinary units...you see Red Army Tank crews wearing them.

4th photo looks like a class graduation photo, but I strongly feel this has both Americans (in front on ground..look at the peak caps...looks like Army Air Corps....and the Russians are mostly standing....this COULD be a photo of the american pilots that were sent on 'shuttle' missions to the Soviet Union....this one looks like an Army Air Corps pilot getting a photo from his new Russian friends....or, failing that, it's winter, so it could be after Germany surrendered and before the Berlin blockade.....get a close up of this one.

last one of the three....anybodies guess, but the coats look American...the Red Army greatcoats were much thicker and woven, whereas these coats look more mass produced, american style clothing.......the caps are tilted back, so no chance of insignia....

Oh yes...the first one of the German looks very much like a Luftwaffe Field Division....did all Reich servicemen wear an Eagle with swastika in it's claws, or was it only the Luftwaffe....itf it was only the Luftwaffe, then this cloth badge on his right breast indicates an Airforce uniform...but if the Eagle patch was on all the uniforms...anybodies guess, although the women in the photo look ver Ukrainian....or even Byelorussian.....hard to tell, closer shot needed...

anyway, thats my best guess at the lot of them....

WotNoChad? will become famous soon enough
The most infamous Ukrainian German regt was 14th SS Ukranian Infantry Division Galicia, searching on that should give you something to go on. Although I'm not saying any of those photos are of that division. But it does lead to a question; Whereabouts did you get these books? A very sizeable number of Galicia were given refugee status and settled in the UK.

The last photo I've had another look at, and I'm having another guess at......I honestly now think these are VOLKSTURM uniforms.....

Sorry, that should be the SECOND on the list as VOLKSTRUM
