Nuetral countries

although all most nuetral countries had some involvement in wwII. which country would have made major diferense if they got fully involved in the war.

thinking about size / position of country to make strategic impact, size of army etc

i think spain...if they had joined the axis then the allies would have lost north africa plus used spain as a base for the u-boats.

if they had joined the allies then it would have secured north africa for the allies.

what do you think ? whats your opinion thanks

It would have been interesting to see the effect of Sweden's involvement in the conflict, whichever side it declared for.

I often find WW2 neutrality a little 'suspicious'.
There's a variety of good reasons for being neutral, the most sensible, to me, being a pragmatic appreciation that one's country would be swallowed up immediately and proven unable to defend itself, but then there's that very fine ethical line of dealing with both sides, and profiting thereof, while claiming to have nothing to do with the war. The Swiss & Swedish (eg) never look quite as wholesome to me in the period as their reputation implies, though this is often down to industry rather than politics (if those 2 factors are separable?).

Must have been terrifying trying to exist as Neutral with Hitler as a neighbour though, didn't do the Dutch much good when Adolf's operational interests needed their geography.

Cheers,
Adam.

TURKEY......without a doubt......

Simply put, proper Turkish co-operation could have sealed the fate of the Soviet Union, spinning it into an anarchic future from which few slavs would escape unaffected.........Russia descended into complete chaos with it's exit from the Great War....brought on as much by failure to supply the mass of uniformed people....a mistake not repeated in WWII.
