![]() | Setting the Record Straight for OMAHA.... Folks, I have an address to write to the Production company that deals with Richard Hammond....they have assured me that, if we write to them, they will pass on ALL correspondance to Mr. Hammond PERSONALLY.... Why don't we set the record straight? I can supply a copy of Williamson Murray's MHQ article, along with other info....who knows of other factors that influenced the decision at Omaha, June 6th, 1944? Come on and HELP.......THIS MAY BE A CHANCE TO TELL THE REAL STORY......I have been assured that all correspondance of this nature will be forwarded to Richard personally....Full credit given in the letters to those that help! There must be aspects of the Omaha story that I'm not aware of....what do you guys know that I don't? Come on and join in, a chance to be involved in the historical process FOR REAL! |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Set what record straight? Did you see the programme? Kind of hard to comment if you didn't mate, let alone start some kind of campaign... Cheers, Adam.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I'm sorry, I don't think this is appropriate, especially as you have not seen the documentary in question. And... as I mentioned before... Richard Hammond did not write this programme, he was the presenter. You need to know what the difference is before you go off half-cocked like this. Please get your facts straight about exactly what was discussed and said, before you launch an internet campaign... and by the way, this was made by BBC, so no idea what 'production company' you are talking about. Also please do not think of mentioning this forum to give your 'argument' some legitimacy.

![]() | The company is called INDEPENDAT Talent Group, in Oxford House, London..... I know he didnt write it, but he will be interested.... Not my fault I haven't seen the show, but from what you guys tell me, it's as inaccurate as a show can be concerning the real resons for the tragedy.... I'll just send of the info with s brief covering letter.... Can't I get anything right here?..... Here you have an oppurtunity to so something good....whats wrong with that? And this is not an Internet 'campaign' by any stretch of the imagination....and if we know of better knowledge as to Omaha, why not use the resources we have collectively to make some kind of statement? Can I do nothing right here? |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I am afraid your whole attitude baffles me. I didn't - funny enough - watch any Australian TV last night. Was it any good? If not, give me some addresses to write to. The company you mention above are probably Hammond's agents - they have nothing to do with the programme, which - I repeat - was made by the BBC.

![]() | Alright....I'll do it on my own......the information I gave to you guys is not exactly a state secret...it's just not widely known..... What else is a site like this for? And as for legitimacy, I'll stand on my own in that department....I certainly don't need anybody elses approval for that....I wasn't even going to mention this site, but I was going to ask for your knowledgable help.... This is history....like it or not, it deserves to be told as it was, rather than as popular knowledge knows it to be... My God, If you guys have got a problem with this, it really does mystify me as to why...I would have thought that you might jump at the chance to become involved.....mistaken belief....look....perhaps I should just resign.....any suggestion I have is shouted down, I'm not so sure that anything I do here is welcomed....not sure whether this is because I'm not a veteran..... I'll just crawl back in my corner then, and mouth platitues as most people do about WWII, rather than serious debate... We have an oppurtunity to do a little more than just moan about inaccuracies....I thought thats what we are all here for....excuse me |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Don't be so pathetic - you are simply reducing your argument to the level of the playground, as you have done many times. As for setting the record straight, you need to hear what was said before you can make comment about anything. Surely?

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Why would we jump to criticise a programme for innacuracy when nobody here has criticised it's accuracy? I for one wouldn't expect anything less than a 24 episode series to do anything like full justice to each one of the Beaches so I'm hardly going to complain when an hour-long documentary didn't cover every aspect. Bleat about 'debate' as much as you like Chris but you simply can't start a 'debate' based on a programme you haven't seen, it's faintly mental. Debate has to have something to start with, a hypothesis, a supposition even, not a knee-jerk response to a few lines of chat on the web.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | For someone who wants to be taken seriously as a Historian you do have some odd ideas, Christos. Listen to Paul, he's been involved with similar programs both on screen and behind the camera. Then again I may complain to the production Company for using the wrong Canadian Flag. |
