![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Interesting but odd resource
Wandered across this the other day, appears to be a sizeable archive of German domestic newsreels. The oddities are two fold, I downloaded one which failed to work, but also it appears to be a neo-nazi endeavour. Wondered if anyone with better German than me might have a butchers to see what they think, and can anyone get the films to work? cheers, Neuschwabenland-Archiv Last edited by von Poop; 21-03-2008 at 04:34 PM. Neushchwabenland seems to refer to 'New Swabia' 88 - Neuschwabenland, the Last German Colony « Strange Maps New Swabia - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia It does seem to be a popular Neo theme, google it and there's lots of that '88' crap. Caution advised perhaps. |

In two minds about it, excited because it looks like a stunning resource but repulsed by who holds it. Found a link at the bottom which goes to the "VLC media player" which does indeed play the films. Something to do with codecs. I'll not be corresponding with them, but I'm tempted to eventually collect the set as it were. cheers, |

I looked at the books section and, surprise, surprise, there was Julius Streicher's "Juden stellen sich vor" (Jews introduce yourselves, a virulent antisemitic cartoon book) Ron

Hope you don't mind Whatnochad, but on further reflection and browsing there I've killed the link. People can still google for it if they so desire, but I've got enough doubts now not to want to link there. Cheers, Adam. |

No don't mind at all. See your point, why taint a brill forum with a link to pure scum... The films are, of course, of historical interest, but they're definitely not a guide for modern life. Shame these folk haven't caught onto that yet. Does anyone have a link to an archive of Allied (particularly British) newsreels and/or propaganda? cheers, Last edited by WotNoChad?; 22-03-2008 at 03:15 AM. |

British Pathé for the full Mr. Cholmondley-Warner experience ! British Pathe Limited If you search via the ITN purchase link, you can view the films without having to go through the clumsy application procedure but if you want detailed stills, you can better use the Pathé link at 1s intervals. I have found that the results can differ a bit using the same search terms so try both. |
