![]() | The role of Garbo, the spy. How do you guys look at the role of Garbo? Garbo being the double-agent who informed the Germans with wrong info about the d-day landings. I've read that some people think his role was dubbel. he gave true info to to enhance his credibility, but I've read on some sites. He gave to much info then was originally planned he should give. Therefore making that the invasion was actually a more close call then it originally was. Luckelly his message he sent at 6th June was recieved to late and the invasion already started.(it was due to be received at 3.00 am but it wasn't read before 6.15 am by that time the invasion already started) Now I don't know much about this subject, but most off the sites and pages I've read (there is even a book) say Garbo didn't do that and kept to his instructions given by the Allieds. Therefore, he should be a "Hero". Can you guys help me on this with some info? thanks Arneken.

![]() ![]() | Dont know much about it myself, Ive read Garbo, its an amazing story and shows how advanced the British where at this sorta thing at the time. But who knows the truth in these things. Only the fact that MI6 spent a lot of effort after the war hiding him makes me think they thought very highly of him, if ity was a triple cross then a. the Brits didnt work it out and b. it wasnt a very good one.
