![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | D-Day Beaches after D-Day Arising from the other thread about D-Day beached and their names I noticed that Sapper made reference to the fact that Sword was abandoned due to the Guns at Le Havre making resupply untenable. How long were the other beaches in use for resupply? when did they stop being supply dumps and start being beaches again? Just wondering!

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | The D-Day beaches had to be used until a large port could be opened. That was Antwerp in November '44. Although Antwerp was liberated in September it couldn't be used until the Schedlt Estuary was cleared. I wondered how long The Red Ball Express was operational for at it came to an end November 16th due as I say to Antwerp being opened. The Mulberry Harbour at Arromaches was still being used 8 months later. Quote:
