Help with identifying a US patch

Can someone tell me what patch this is that was my Grandfather's.

Welcome aboard.
It's the 'Combined Operations' 'logo', but I don't know if the red background/shape makes it a more significant or unit specific marking.

thanks for your help von poop. we got in touch with the guy who runs that site and he told us about it. he is also going to use the picture we sent him giving credit to my grandfather on his site which is pretty awsome.

The patch is seen both with a Red and a Blue background. I don't know if it is true, but I have read in the past that red was worn by US Marine Corps Personnel and Blue by Army personnel assigned to the command. Doc

The red background is for Navy personnel and the blue is for Army.

thanks for your help, the odd thing is my grandfather was in the navy he was in the glider infantry.
