Gory Gory or Glory Glory

Can anyone tell me once and for all what this song is called. I've looked on the net and different sites come up with different lyrics. Either Gory Glory, Glory Glory or Gory Gory. This has been confusing me for ages. Band of brothers sound like they sing Glory Glory, but the production team for brothers in arms sing Gory gory. haha. Any help would be appreciated.

Is it the battle hymn of the republic you're thinking of Marcus? Top tune, though Jeff may disagree .

And it's close relative:

This might be more up Jeff's Street:

O, I wish I was in the land of cotton
Old times there are not forgotten
Look away! Look away! Look away! Dixie Land.
In Dixie Land where I was born in
Early on one frosty mornin'
Look away! Look away! Look away! Dixie Land.
Chorus:
O, I wish I was in Dixie! Hooray! Hooray!
In Dixie Land I'll take my stand
To live and die in Dixie
|: Away, away, away down south in Dixie! :|
2. Old Missus marry Will, the weaver,
William was a gay deceiver
Look away! Look away! Look away! Dixie Land.
But when he put his arm around her
He smiled as fierce as a forty pounder
Look away! Look away! Look away! Dixie Land.
Chorus: 3. His face was sharp as a butcher's cleaver
But that did not seem to grieve her
Look away! Look away! Look away! Dixie Land.
Old Missus acted the foolish part
And died for a man that broke her heart
Look away! Look away! Look away! Dixie Land.
Chorus:

Derivative/corruption of the same tune as the Battle hymn mate:
Filmtracks: Re: "glory glory" lyrics
Sing any words you like as there must be 100 different versions. Seem to remember my Grandad singing a filthy one.

Cheers Adam. So there isn't any definitive lyrics for the chorus then? I think I'll stick to glory glory. Sounds better. :-)

They are two different sets of lyrics sung to the same tune. In the Battle Hymn of the Republic the chorus ends "Glory, Glory, Glory Halleujah, His truth is marching on." The second song is Blood Upon the Risers, a paratrooper song, and the chorus ends "Gory, Gory, Gory Halllelujah, he ain't gonna jump no more." The song is about a paratrooper whose parachute fails to open. You can google for the complete lyrics and I have a mp3 of an army choir singing it.

We sing the Battle Hymn of the Republic at church, around national military holidays.

Edit---but there is one song a like better

Great song, but don't start singing it in too high of key, some of those notes in the "look aways" are real vocal chord stretchers.
