How many veterans of 1940 survived the War ?

This old typed sheet from September 1939 shows three sections of No10 Platoon `B` Company 8th DLI

From these men four would definitely not see the war’s end. It is unknown how many more were invalided out through wounds or sickness

4456143 Pte Norman Huscroft would not return from France being the Companies first casualty on May 21st 1940
4456227 Pte J Fishburn would not return from the Western Desert falling on the 29th June 1942
4452899 Pte J Hickman also fell in the Western Desert on the 2 November 1942
4451703 Sgt Selby Wardle fell in action in Sicily on the 3rd August 1943
