![]() | Like Lee, I also cannot see where this is going. But to point one thing out, those five to nine million Germans who you say died and their allies may have died at the hands of the Soviet forces, but they did not die because of the Soviet Union. They died because of Nazi Germany. If the Germans had not invaded the Soviet Union, they would not have died.

![]() ![]() | Welcome to the forum Maxpower. I too would welcome your reason for stating these well known numbers. The Soviet Union did indeed suffer horrendous casualties responding to the invasion of their territory by the Nazi hoards.

![]() | My point was that i Hate when people just put the Soviet war effort to the side and say it didnt matter Or when people Say that the americans did everything and the war only really started in 44 And when people say that the soviets only won because they just throw lots of soldiers in and only could ever find victory when they ran over themlike ants or because of th weather, which ofcurse is all (word deleted by moderator) |

![]() ![]() | I wholeheartedly agree with you. If you have been hearing this on other forums, you should be spending more time here. The discussion maybe more micro than macro at times however we usually look at and discuss most of the facts which need to be supported. There were many countries on the allied side who all made a contribution to the degree of their ability. No it was not only the Soviet Union nor the US nor Britain etc etc etc however is was a combination of all moving in the same direction to disable the expansion of the Nazi and Japanese empires. We have had pro Soviets who intimate that the US or Britain did less than they should/could have which is definitely not true also. Please read the post of our short poster Zhukov who was quite exuberant and one sided in his tirade on the other allied nations. Look forward to your further posts and read Zhukov's posts under the heading of: World War 2 Talk>Around the World> Russia's War>Downplaying Russia's Role, Enough! Get over it!
