Another birder too.

lancesergeant is on a distinguished road
A true warrior with a compassionate and caring side. Setting up a trust for the Italian peasants, shows another side to this brave man's nature. Reading his war experiences reminds me of Lt Winters when he said if he got out alive he would build a farm away from it all, and live out his days there. One can understand how they wanted and found peace after what they went through. From one extreme to the other.

Yes it has been said before but the few are becoming fewer.

RIP.

"You were given the choice between war and dishonor.
You chose dishonor and you will have war."

(Winston Churchill made this prophetic pronouncement in a House of Commons speech in 1938, just after Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain signed the Munich agreement with Hitler. Chamberlain returned from Germany with the signed agreement in hand, proclaiming that "peace in our time" had been achieved. Churchill attacked Chamberlain's "politics of appeasement" in this and many other speeches.)

Smile RIP, Major

Saddened to hear of this. He served his country well. A great loss.

My condolences to his family, and my wish that he enjoyed that long and happy life at peace.
