ox and bucks

hello all, wonder if you can help,
1st of all,is there a medal index for ww2 like the ww1 ones?
2nd, of all,im tracing my grandads military history and am wondering if any one can shed some light on this, he served out in India with 2 ox & bucks at R awalpindi, but at some point ended up being cut of nr Dunkirk with another ox & bucks battalion, by now he was a Cpl and he and his section flagged down a on coming truck, thinking it was ours, but of course it was full of Germans, and of to the pow camp they went,is it poss that as a cpl and being a long term and experienced solider he would of been recalled to the uk and was then cross posted to either 1 ox & bucks or the TA battalion 4th to act as an instructor to the TA unit
My next step is the war records office etc,

52nd Airborne will become famous soon enough
Hi and Welcome to the Forums Mudblood.

There is no medal index for WW2 medals, you need to contact:

MOD Medal Office
Building 250
RAF Innsworth
Gloucester
GL3 1HW
Tel: 01452 712612 Ext 8149 or 8200.

For Grandfathers army service records, contact:

Army Personnel Centre
Civil Secretariat
Historical Disclosures
Mail Point 400
Kentigern House
65 Brown Street
Glasgow
G2 8EX
Tel: 0141 2245126
Email: disc4.civsec@apc.mod.uk

If you have your Grandfathers army number it will make the search easier and you will get a faster response. If you don't know his number, forward me his name and I will see if I can find it for you.

The 2nd Battalion or the 52nd as they like to known, arrived back in the UK on the 18th July 1940 after 18 years service in India and Burma. The 1st and 4th Battalions Ox & Bucks and the 1st Buckingham Territorials went to France/Belgium with the BEF.

His POW Number was 13299 and I can also confirm his last camp as being Stalag XXB at Marienburg.

Unfortunately No! However, you could go to the National Archive at Kew and obtain your Grandfathers "Liberated POW Interrogation Questionnaire" File WO344 as that should list the camps he was at, Or contact the Veterans Agency as they hold all the German POW Record cards, if you ask them nicely they might give you a copy of your Grandfathers record.
