33 of the 36 of these records have the phrase "son of....", I could apply my 'Brother Finder' to these.

("son of...." is very common, but "brother of...." rarely found, even when a brother also fell)

There are also two more attached to this unit, Jervis, Army Catering Corps and Fletcher, Royal Corps of Signals. Neither of these fit as brothers within the unit.

Easily done after so many years. However I ran the finder for the 73 regt men against all other casualties - no match was found.

Geoff

I continue to admire your "Geoff's Super Search" as it would more appropriately named

The other day I was wondering what, if anything, putting "Jew" into the UNIT TEXT box would produce and apart from several men from the Palestine Rgt and Jewish Brigade Group it threw up "HMS Jewell".

Just out of interest, what effect does the inclusion of inverted commas have ?

Thanks

Ron

ps
Having posted this, I did what I should have done in the first place and consulted your HELP facility. I now see under Unit text

Enter text to identify the battalion, ship or unit. Do not enter too much
text, less is usually better and avoid using . or ". Observe spaces.
Some GOOD examples:
4th bn
2nd/4th
50th bty
lusitania
Good Hope

Yes it is rather "super" init.

Yes, it tends to mess things up and find nothing. Quotes gets converted to " - which is the HTML version.
Very few people bother to RTFM, so quite a few searches fail. (they are all logged into a log file so I can see how the thing is running).

cheers,

geoff
