Been trying Kyt, not as easy as it seems.
I find a bomb photo and then spend ages getting a similar view, very very hard to find shots that fit (eg, not sure the picture above actually shows the bomb-damaged area.) gives me even more respect for the 'then and now' shots the After The battle people track down.

I've some pictures somewhere in a Swindon in photos book, can't think where it is.
Found this on eBay.
eBay: Bomb damage Swindon GWR works 1942 6.40am official phot (item 140083921774 end time Feb-13-07 06:05:01 PST)

Only one I can find on-line.I think I've worked out where this is today though.
The park on left of "bomb" photo is top of GoogleEarth snap & marked recreation ground on old map. The bomb photo is taken looking roughly east.

Whilst trying to Google for more pictures of Swindon I googled my own post on this thread.
http://www.ww2talk.com/forum/general...mb-damage.html

Pity I missed this exhibiton back in 2004.
Devastation of air raids captured in Swindon at War

Quote:
Although Swindon wasn't targeted like Bristol or London, some 48 civilians died and 105 were injured in air raids.

Images of bombed houses in Drove Road, Beatrice Street, Whitehouse Road and Ipswich Street graphically illustrate the carnage of such raids.

Gnomey will become famous soon enough
I have no pictures of where I live (it was never bombed) but these pictures are very interesting to see.

This site is excellent for pictures of Bristol during the war. I'm going to try to get some "then & now" pictures in the summer

B***dy is! I walk down that road almost every day (OK, maybe the first couple of bombed out shops may not be in the "now" picture )
