Weymouth, Dorset, 6th December 1944

I have received a photograph of the grave of a NAAFI lady buried in Scotland. The headstone commemoration includes "Killed on duty, Weymouth, Dorset, 6th December 1944".
My initial assumption is 'on duty' at a Naval Station or Barracks canteen. Can anybody offer any information regarding a major incident on that date in Weymouth.
The lady is not commemorated on either the CWGC or SNWM

Grateful for any information

Tony
