Sites in Italy.

Since my grandad served in Italy i am thinking of visiting some of his possible areas of service.
I'm not expecting a Normandy style set-up but are there plenty of sites, memorials and points of interest easily accessible?
The areas in mind are;Carpinetta, Casale, Scoule, Monte Romano, Monte Buritini, Celincordia, Cesena.

Regards T.
