Mark Hone is on a distinguished road
11th LF was part of the garrison of Malta until May 1944 when it was sent to Italy. It became part of 66th Brigade, 1st Division. Your man was killed in the Brigade's attack on Monte La Fagetta and Poggio Profetto, part of the German Gothic Line defences. More details can be found in 'The History of the Lancashire Fusiliers 1939-45' by the late Major John Hallam (Sutton 1993).

Cheers Paul, that would be great.
Any more info on that attack would be most welcome.
I've Googled for the book Mark mentioned and was dissappointed to see how much it cost.
