Outage - Apologies. (The Site Niggles Thread)

Apologies to those of you that have had access problems to the site this morning and overnight.

It looks like the forum's system for indexing threads had picked up a small glitch along the way, as a sweep/rebuild of that area seems to have fixed the problem.

Hopefully we're back on track again, there'll be some double checking to be absolutely sure.

Apologies again, and thanks to those of you that reported the problem.

Is it playing up again ? I couldn't access for a few hours this evening and then when I could enter, I couldn't preview or post a reply because I took too long typing it (maybe it's just a bullshit filter ?)

I thought it might just have been me being on a 'holiday' connection, thanks for confirming it's more widespread.
Definitely been a bit shaky here and on WW2f this evening, we'll get on the case and see if it's something we can sort or just one of those 'internetish' things that passes of it's own accord... Suspect it might be down to backups running at a bad time, but don't quote me!

In the meantime I'm sorry for those of you having trouble, I know what a pain in the arse it can be

Word from our glorious leader Otto that the server had some sort of problem but had rebooted itself by the time he got back to his pooter.

One of those things by the sound of it, I can only apologise & hope that's it for the Gremlins.

I knew I shouldn't have fed them after midnight...

Apologies to those that have experienced difficulty getting into the forum over the last hour, I'm contacting the Techmeister so we can have a dig about and see what's causing it.

OK, talked to The Glorious Leader.

Yesterdays brief outage was indeed down to backups running, slowed down somewhat by the large lump of 'stuff' that is the currently closed gallery.

Today's seems to have been a widespread blip among US service providers (we're hosted in the States). Once again it looks like it's just 'one of those occasional things' and the integrity of the site's completely unaffected.

We'll keep trying to be as honest as possible when these things happen, and this one does appear to be another of those annoying bloody passing Gremlins.
(Hopefully very clever people somewhere in the USA are metaphorically chucking it into a bin-bag and beating it with sticks.)
